Woolf Works - Wayne McGregor

Woolf Works is a contemporary ballet inspired by the life and literary imagination of Virginia Woolf, one of the most influential writers of the 20th century. Rather than telling a single story, the ballet translates her novels into a rich visual and emotional experience.

The work unfolds in three interconnected acts, drawing inspiration from Mrs Dalloway, Orlando, and The Waves. Through fluid movement, striking stage imagery, and evocative music, the ballet explores memory, identity, the passage of time, love, loss, and the complexity of the human mind.

Each act captures a different aspect of Woolf's artistic vision, moving seamlessly between reality and imagination. Personal relationships, inner thoughts, and shifting perceptions become the driving force of the choreography, creating a deeply emotional journey rather than a conventional narrative.

Essence
Woolf Works is a poetic and visually stunning ballet that celebrates the beauty of imagination, the fragility of memory, and the search for identity. Wayne McGregor's innovative choreography, combined with a powerful musical score and immersive stage design, transforms Virginia Woolf's literary masterpieces into an unforgettable theatrical experience.
