Macbeth - Giuseppe Verdi

After a victorious battle, the Scottish general Macbeth encounters three mysterious witches who prophesy that he will become king. Driven by ambition and urged on by his ruthless wife, Lady Macbeth, he murders King Duncan and seizes the throne.

What follows is a descent into darkness. Consumed by guilt and fear, Macbeth becomes increasingly paranoid, ordering further killings to secure his power. Lady Macbeth, once the driving force behind the crime, is gradually destroyed by her own conscience, descending into madness.

As rebellion rises against the tyrant, Macbeth clings to the witches’ deceptive promises of invincibility. In the end, those prophecies turn against him. He is defeated and killed, bringing an end to his bloody reign, while justice and order are finally restored.

Essence
Macbeth is a gripping exploration of ambition, power, and psychological collapse. Verdi transforms Shakespeare’s tragedy into a dark, intense musical drama where guilt and fate haunt every moment.
