Fidelio - Ludwig van Beethoven

Fidelio is a powerful story of love, courage, justice, and freedom.

When the noble Florestan is secretly imprisoned by the tyrannical governor Don Pizarro for exposing his corruption, his devoted wife Leonore refuses to give up hope. Disguising herself as a young man named Fidelio, she gains employment at the prison, determined to rescue her husband.

As Pizarro prepares to murder Florestan to conceal his crimes, Leonore reveals her true identity and courageously places herself between the governor and her husband. At that decisive moment, the arrival of the minister announces the restoration of justice. Pizarro is arrested, Florestan is freed, and the prisoners celebrate their long-awaited liberation.

Fidelio is Beethoven's only opera and a timeless celebration of love, justice, courage, and the triumph of freedom over tyranny.
