Die Fledermaus - Johann Strauß

Die Fledermaus "The Bat" is a sparkling comedy of love, disguise, revenge, and mistaken identity.

To settle an old score, Dr. Falke devises an elaborate prank against his friend Gabriel von Eisenstein. On the evening before Eisenstein is due to begin a short prison sentence, Falke persuades him to attend the glamorous masked ball hosted by Prince Orlofsky instead.

At the ball, disguises and hidden identities lead to a whirlwind of flirtation, misunderstandings, and comic intrigue. Eisenstein unknowingly courts his own wife, Rosalinde, who is disguised as a mysterious Hungarian countess, while their witty maid Adele seizes the opportunity to pursue her dreams of becoming an actress.

The following morning, everyone meets at the prison, where the truth is finally revealed. The misunderstandings are resolved with laughter, friendships are restored, and Falke's playful revenge is complete.
